    • Assignment of a Named Accountable GP

Since April 2015, all GP practices in England must assign a named Accountable GP to every patient, including children and those aged 75 and over, to coordinate their care. Patients are informed of their named GP and retain the option to see any healthcare professional within the practice. Elderly patients benefit from a named GP who works with other professionals to ensure comprehensive care. Additionally, patients have the right to express a preference for a specific practitioner, and practices aim to accommodate these preferences where possible, typically through direct communication or written requests.
